Glendale Driver Killed After Crashing Into Utility Pole Early Saturday

Separate DUI arrest made after another driver enters active crash scene

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A man died in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend after slamming his pickup truck into a telephone pole in Glendale, authorities said Monday.

The Glendale Police Department said the collision occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday near Camelback Road and 64th Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found 41-year-old Rinold James Bennett critically injured inside the vehicle. Police performed life-saving efforts at the scene until Glendale Fire Department paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

According to investigators, Bennett was the only person in the vehicle, and no other cars were involved in the crash.

DUI arrest made at crash scene

While officers were managing the scene and conducting the investigation, a separate driver entered the closed-off area. Police said that individual was arrested on suspicion of DUI, although no additional information was released about the incident or the driver.

The cause of the original crash remains under investigation, and no further details have been made public.
