Gilbert Police Seek Information on May 8th Shooting

The Gilbert Police Department is requesting information from the public on a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the Sandbar Mexican Grill located near East Williams Field Road and South Santan Village Parkway in Gilbert.

It is alleged that at approximately 1:00 AM on Sunday, May 8th, an altercation involving patrons inside the Sandbar spilled out to the business parking lot. During this altercation, a male subject was shot twice and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sandbar Mexican Grill’s surveillance video from the time of the incident shows a black male in his late 20s to early 30s with short dreadlock-type hair and what appears to be a short-sleeve matching men’s romper set inside the business.  Witnesses have identified this individual as the alleged shooter.


After the shooting occurred in the parking lot, the alleged suspect reportedly entered a red Dodge Challenger’s front passenger seat area and the vehicle drove away at a high rate of speed.
