Gilbert Man Indicted for Wife’s Death at Long-Term Care Facility

Justin Davidson charged with first-degree murder after allegedly causing fatal injuries to his wife, who was receiving hospice care for advanced dementia

PHOENIX — A Gilbert man has been indicted on one count of first-degree murder following the death of his wife earlier this month at a long-term care facility where she was being treated for advanced dementia, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

On Monday, 46-year-old Justin Davidson was formally charged in the death of 58-year-old Danielle Crosbie-Davidson. She was found unresponsive with suspicious injuries at Eternal Springs of Gilbert on the morning of June 11.

Authorities said Davidson had been staying overnight in the same room with his wife at the time of her death.

Police Called After Staff Discover Suspicious Injuries

Gilbert police responded to the facility just after 9 a.m. after care staff reported concerns about bruising and unusual marks on Crosbie-Davidson’s body. Her death had occurred several hours earlier, around 3 a.m., according to police.

Medical personnel at the scene noted the bruising was not consistent with expected hospice-related conditions, prompting a criminal investigation.

Davidson was detained for questioning later that day. During a subsequent interview with detectives, he allegedly made statements acknowledging his direct involvement in his wife’s death. The nature of those statements has not been publicly disclosed.

Murder Trial Set for 2026

Davidson was arrested and booked into jail, where he remains held on a $1 million bond. A Maricopa County grand jury later returned an indictment for first-degree murder, which carries a potential life sentence if convicted.

His trial is tentatively scheduled to begin in February 2026.

The case remains under investigation by the Gilbert Police Department in coordination with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
