Gilbert Community Introduces Smart Homes

Technology is ever growing and changing with the aim of making lives easier for people. The twenty-first century has seen some of the most remarkable technological advancements in history. It is therefore not surprising to know that this technological advancement has come to our homes. The upcoming Gilbert multifamily project is said to be the first ever apartment community that offers mobile-device enabled technology to its residents implying that it will have many features that residents will control remotely.

The smart homes project started in the fourth quarter of 2015 and is expected to end in May this year. The houses will bring a new edge for the residents of the North West corner of the SanTan Village Parkway and Boston Street as it will be the first of a kind in Arizona. The plan for the project comprises of 320 units that include 48 studio, 161 one-bedroom apartments, and 222 two-bedroom apartments as well as amenities that consists of a dog park, clubhouse, and pool.

The features of the smart homes will definitely be the selling point of the apartments as it includes functions as the remote control locks which will get rid of the hustle of carrying around keys and reduce the chances of one being locked out of his or her home. Another feature that will come with these apartments is the remote control temperature and lighting feature. With this, one can quickly change the lighting and temperature while sitting comfortably on the couch.

So what motivated this kind of developmental direction? There has been an increase in millennials who prefer apartment housing while at their prime years as opposed to buying houses as they see it being more convenient. Also, these millennials are quite tech-savvy and are often interested in making use of the latest technological invention. It follows that with this particular combination, the millennials will appreciate the features present in these ‘smart homes’.

It is the hope of the developers of this community of ‘smart homes’ that the trend will continue and that they will be able to take part in more project such as this that will entail the use of even more advanced technology.
