Fun Adventures for the Family in June

The kids are out of school itching for something to do, and you want to make lasting summer memories. Whether you prefer to stretch your legs or your mind, we have you covered.

Looking lighthearted fun in the sun? Try Mesa’s Golfland Sunsplash. Open everyday, you can get your golf on and rocket down water slides all in one park. The bumper boats and fast car raceway are both a must, as well. Plus, the splash pad is great for little ones. Try a weekday or evening for the best rates.

Doesn’t sound like enough challenge for your crew? Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course, open rain or shine, is the place for you. Older children and adults zoom through the Arizona sky on a zipline or aerial surf board. The suspended bridges and nets allow for exploration 15-60 feet up in Ponderosa Pines. Children 7+ have their own course. The steep entry at $27-$50 is worth it for the family who likes to climb to new heights.

When the heat has you beat, bring the fun inside by visiting the award-winning Phoenix Children’s Museum. If your kiddos scoff at the word “museum”, just mention the hands-on Art Studio to get them psyched. Tots and babies even have play areas made just for them. Check out Free First Friday Nights for a no-money-fun experience.

Now the museum has piqued your curiosity, try Biosphere 2 located an hour north of Tuscan. Time Life Books listed it as one of the 50 Must See Wonders of the World, and it’s no wonder why. Visitors revel in nature’s diverse delights at the ocean viewing gallery or the rainforest to name a few. Tours are 1.5 hours with quite a bit of standing. Temperatures and humidity vary, so wear comfortable clothes and bring bottled water. Biosphere 2 has less rigorous tours for those with medical considerations. Check out biosphere.org for a virtual tour.

What are you waiting for? Get those kids in the car, plug one of those destinations into your map, and prepare to wow your whole family.
