Phoenix residents and visitors celebrating New Year’s Eve will once again have a free and convenient way to get around the Valley.
Molson Coors Beverage Company is partnering with Valley Metro to bring back its Free Rides program, offering complimentary public transit across the Phoenix metro area on New Year’s Eve. The fare-free service will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, and continue until 2 a.m. — or the end of service — early Thursday morning, January 1.
The program covers all Valley Metro transit options, including local buses, light rail, and paratransit services, giving partygoers multiple ways to travel safely to and from celebrations without worrying about parking, traffic, or impaired driving.
Officials say the initiative is designed to encourage responsible choices during one of the busiest nights of the year. By removing fares during peak celebration hours, the program aims to make public transit an easy first choice for people heading to downtown events, neighborhood gatherings, or late-night festivities.
Riders are encouraged to plan ahead, as trains and buses are expected to see higher-than-usual demand throughout the evening. Trip planning tools and real-time updates are available through the Valley Metro app and online at valleymetro.org.
With free rides in place, Valley Metro and Molson Coors hope the Valley can ring in 2026 with a safer, smoother start to the new year.
