Free Dental Day For Veterans

If you or someone you know is an Arizona veteran and need dental care, it is available for free on Saturday. Students who are studying dentistry at Midwestern University will be hosting a Dental Day for Veterans from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Glendale university’s dental institute, located at 5855 West Utopia Road.

“It’s a very worthy event to give back to our veterans, many of whom are in need of dental care, and it’s our pleasure to be able to provide that free care for the veterans this March 23, this Saturday,” said Associate Dean James Pashayan.

The services are available to all veterans, including those who are homeless or don’t have insurance.

Services available include: cleanings, X-rays, fillings, crowns, extractions, and implant consultations.

Students will be required to take the blood pressure of all patients before a procedure, and they will be supervised by dentists.

“If the blood pressure is in an area that would make dental care not an urgent issue and more of a medical issue, we can refer them to their health care provider,” he said.

“Or we even have our own multi-specialty clinic on campus that takes appointments from the general public if they don’t have a primary care provider.”

To qualify, veterans are required to supply information that confirms their service.

“We have had a wonderful response from our veterans, and we do have some openings left,” said Pashayan.

“And I would certainly encourage our veterans to give us a call and see if they can get registered for it.”
