Free Coronavirus Testing in South Phoenix

As Arizona’s coronavirus cases continue in a statewide surge, a local foundation is stepping in to help.

The HeroZona Foundation announced Wednesday it will provide opportunities to be tested for the virus at zero cost.

In partnership collaboration that consists of the Travis L. Williams American Legion Post 65, Maricopa County’s District 5 and the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the testing will be held at South Mountain Community College (7050 S. 24th St.).

The free COVID-19 testing will be held Thursday and Friday, July 2-3 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and will also be held on July 9-10 at the same time.

Patients will not be required to pre-register or display coronavirus symptoms in order to receive tests. Testing will also include antibody screenings.

Those who choose to be tested but bring a valid ID.

“Additional testing is needed immediately in south Phoenix to keep our communities safe,” HeroZona Foundation Founder Allan “AP” Powell said in a press release.

“We created this event to help bring additional testing sites to areas that need it the most.”

Tests will be administered by the south Florida-based Lab 24, which specializes in molecular testing.
