GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Arizona Myeloma Network (AzMN) is hosting a free cancer caregiver seminar on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center in Glendale. The event, titled “Bridging the Gap: A Cancer Caregiver Seminar,” will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with lunch provided for in-person attendees.
This seminar is part of AzMN’s Cancer Caregivers Education Program (CCEP), which has been supporting cancer patients and their families since 2004. The program is now available online and is designed to assist caregivers in managing the many challenges of cancer care.
Why This Matters
With over 2 million new cancer diagnoses expected in the U.S. this year—and more than 3,500 per month in Arizona alone—the need for caregiver education and support has never been more urgent. Caregivers often spend 40 hours a week or more on tasks while juggling jobs and family responsibilities.
“No family should face this devastating disease alone,” said Barbara Kavanagh, founder of AzMN, who started the organization with her late husband Jack, a 33-year myeloma survivor. “This seminar is about providing tools, knowledge, and community to those who need it most.”
What to Expect
A walk-through of AzMN’s online Cancer Caregivers Education Program
Guest speakers from Arizona’s top cancer care experts
An opportunity to connect with fellow caregivers and families
Free lunch for in-person attendees
Virtual participation available via Zoom (registration required)
