Former Arizona Train Depot Turned Phoenix Home for Sale for $1M

Near the turn of the 20th Century, Mayer was a bustling town in Northern Arizona. As many busy towns do, it needed a new train depot and in 1898, they received theirs. The depot served its purpose. In 1963, it caught the eye of architect Fred Guirey. He had it loaded on to a truck and moved down to Phoenix.

Now it sits on more than an acre of land near State Route 51 and Northern Ave, 75 miles away from its original location, overlooking the Valley of the Sun. Stunning views can be seen from a massive patio attached to the now 2,600 square foot home.  The original building is nearly 120 years old. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and is far from dated.

This fully updated, beautiful home features a chapel ceiling and terrazzo floors in the master bedroom and bathroom and limestone floors throughout the kitchen, family and dining rooms. A far cry from 1898, it also has electronics integrated making audio, video and internet readily available.

You can still see a portion of its old character and charm. Some of the original fir hardwood can still be found intermingled with its modern updates of concrete counter tops.

The home is also a local celebrity. It was featured in an episode of HGTV’s “You Live in What?” that depicts its story of the train depot’s move to Phoenix.

Would you like to get your hands on a piece of Arizona history? The train depot turned home has been listed for $1 million.
