A woman in Flagstaff was arrested over the weekend after allegedly shooting and killing her mother inside a home near Route 66, according to the Flagstaff Police Department.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday at a residence on East Terrace Avenue near Elden Street, where officers had responded to a noise complaint. As they approached the home, police reported hearing a single gunshot from inside.
Officers then made contact at the door with Mea Brodie, who allegedly acknowledged a gunshot before attempting to close the door. Police detained her and entered the home to perform a welfare check, discovering Doris Brodie dead in the living room from an apparent gunshot wound.
Mea Brodie was taken into custody and is expected to face murder charges, authorities said.
Flagstaff police have not released additional details, including a possible motive, but confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
The killing marks one of several recent domestic-related homicides under investigation across northern Arizona. Police are urging anyone experiencing family conflict or signs of domestic violence to seek help before tensions escalate.
