A man was killed and a Flagstaff police officer seriously injured in a two-car crash on the city’s east side Saturday morning.
The collision occurred just after 7:30 a.m. along Butler Avenue, according to officials. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures on both drivers, but the unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. The officer was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center, where he remains under emergency care.
Authorities have not released details about what led up to the crash. The Arizona Department of Public Safety is handling the primary investigation, while the Flagstaff Police Department will also conduct an internal review.
The officer’s name and condition have not been made public, and the victim’s identity is being withheld until relatives are notified.
