Authorities in Phoenix detained four juveniles and a 19-year-old man early Sunday following an alleged armed robbery that escalated into a police pursuit across the West Valley.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to reports of a robbery near 39th and Maryland avenues in northwest Phoenix. Investigators say several juveniles, reportedly armed with firearms, took items from the scene before fleeing in a vehicle.
Police later located the suspect vehicle, but the driver failed to pull over, prompting a pursuit. Air support and tactical units were deployed, with assistance from the Department of Public Safety, to help track the vehicle as it moved through the area.
The chase came to an end in Buckeye when the vehicle crashed into a parked car. The occupants then fled on foot, but officers were able to locate and detain all five suspects shortly afterward.
One of the individuals, identified as 19-year-old Jeremiah Coronado, was booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. The four remaining suspects are juveniles. Authorities also confirmed that the stolen items were recovered.
One juvenile sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police say the case remains under active investigation, and formal charges are expected once the inquiry is complete.
