A violent crash in north Phoenix left six people hospitalized late Saturday after two vehicles collided and caught fire, authorities said.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. near Cave Creek Road and 12th Street, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Emergency responders arrived to find both vehicles engulfed in flames following the collision.
Officials said three of the victims remained in critical condition Sunday morning. Details about the identities of those involved and the extent of the other injuries were not immediately released.
Investigators are also looking into whether impairment contributed to the crash. Authorities believe one of the drivers may have been under the influence at the time of the collision, though no charges had been announced as of Sunday afternoon.
The investigation remains ongoing as deputies work to determine what led up to the fiery crash.
