FedEx is shutting down a Phoenix facility and laying off 101 employees as the company continues a multi-year initiative aimed at restructuring its delivery operations.
According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the Arizona Department of Economic Security on June 2, the closure will impact workers at the company’s facility located on North 43rd Avenue in Phoenix.
A FedEx spokesperson said employees were informed about the planned changes months in advance. While the facility will cease operations, the company noted that some affected workers may be offered positions elsewhere within FedEx. Others will have access to relocation assistance, job placement support, or severance packages.
The closure is tied to FedEx’s broader Network 2.0 strategy, a transformation effort launched in 2022 to simplify package delivery operations and improve efficiency. The initiative is built around a “one van, one neighborhood” model designed to streamline routes and consolidate services across the company’s network.
Since implementing the strategy, FedEx has closed more than 200 facilities nationwide as it works to integrate operations and reduce costs.
The Phoenix closure marks another step in the company’s ongoing network overhaul, which FedEx says is intended to create a more efficient and unified delivery system while adapting to changing shipping demands.
