Suspect Surrenders to Police After Shooting; Community Reacts to Tragic Event

SURPRISE, Ariz. – A fatal road rage incident in the West Valley has resulted in the death of a 33-year-old man, with the suspected shooter now in police custody.

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 27, near 163rd Avenue and Grand Avenue around 1:30 p.m. The victim, identified as James Nicholas Solano-Aguilar, was reportedly shot and killed by 18-year-old Jaidev Christian Spicely. Authorities used surveillance cameras in the area to identify Spicely, who subsequently called the police and surrendered without resistance. He faces charges of second-degree murder, disorderly conduct with a weapon, and discharge of a firearm within city limits.

Eyewitnesses Joe and Stacy Morel encountered the scene on their way home from grocery shopping. Stacy, a nurse, assisted with CPR efforts. The family’s car was found on the right shoulder, while Solano-Aguilar was shot near the median.


Surprise Police urge drivers to avoid engaging with aggressive motorists and to report such behavior to authorities, emphasizing the importance of safety and non-engagement in potentially dangerous situations.
