A deadly crash in Phoenix on Sunday night is under investigation after a vehicle collided with a pole and burst into flames, leaving one person dead.
Police were dispatched to the intersection of 15th Avenue and Broadway Road around 8 p.m. following reports of a serious collision involving injuries. While en route, officers were alerted that the vehicle involved had caught fire, escalating the urgency of the response.
Fire crews arrived shortly after and worked to extinguish the blaze. Once the flames were under control, first responders discovered a person inside the vehicle. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
Officials have not yet released the identity of the victim, and it remains unclear what led up to the crash. The intersection was closed for several hours as investigators examined the scene and worked to determine the cause.
