A 22-year-old man lost his life following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Phoenix, according to local authorities.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 2:45 a.m. to the area near 3rd and Moreland streets after reports of a serious collision on an Interstate 10 off-ramp. When officers arrived, they discovered the driver, identified as Cory Doberstein, in critical condition.
Fire personnel transported Doberstein to a nearby hospital, but despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary findings from investigators indicate that the vehicle was traveling westbound on the 3rd Street exit ramp when it struck a barrier wall. Officials believe excessive speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The Phoenix Police Department Vehicular Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. Authorities have not yet determined whether impairment played a role, and the case remains under active review.
The incident adds to a series of recent serious crashes across the region, underscoring ongoing concerns about road safety during overnight hours.
