Fall Fun and Frights: Phoenix Parks to Host Free Family-Friendly Halloween Events

From trunk-or-treats to haunted parks, the city’s October lineup offers festive fun for all ages across Phoenix neighborhoods.

Phoenix Parks and Recreation is celebrating the spooky season with a full slate of free, family-friendly fall eventsthroughout October — featuring costume contests, carnival games, haunted attractions, and plenty of Halloween cheer.

Families can enjoy a variety of themed gatherings across the city’s parks and community centers, designed for every age group — from toddlers to teens and beyond. Events range from trunk-or-treats and bounce houses to haunted park trails and live entertainment, ensuring residents can find fall festivities close to home.

Highlights include:

  • Festival of Frights – Oct. 17, 5–8 p.m. at South Mountain Park & Preserve

  • Halloween Monster Bash – Oct. 17, 6–8 p.m. at Desert West Park

  • Slopetacular Trunk or Treat – Oct. 18, 5–7 p.m. at Sunnyslope Community Center

  • Scaryvale at Maryvale – Oct. 18, 6–9 p.m. at Maryvale Park & Community Center

  • Nightmare on Jefferson Street – Oct. 24, 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Eastlake Park Community Center

  • BooFest – Oct. 25, 6–9 p.m. at Paseo Highlands Park

  • Itty Bitty Pumpkin Hunt (ages 1–5) – Oct. 31, 9:30–11 a.m. at Pecos Community Center
