Ex-Husband Indicted on Attempted Murder in Violent Arizona Ambush

Defendant traveled from California to assault ex-wife in front of her children

(Phoenix, AZ) – Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced the indictment of Garrett Scott Headrick (DOB: 03/1998) on charges of attempted murder and multiple felonies following a violent attack on his ex-wife in Surprise, Arizona. On October 19, Headrick allegedly traveled from California and ambushed the victim and her children outside their home, where he dragged her into the house by her hair and assaulted her, attempting to stab her while her children looked on. The attack was halted when police intervened, firing non-lethal rounds to subdue Headrick.

A Grand Jury indicted Headrick on October 25 with the following charges:

  • One count of attempt to commit second-degree murder, a Class Two Dangerous felony
  • Four counts of kidnapping, a Class Two felony
  • Three counts of aggravated assault, a Class Three Dangerous felony
  • One count of disorderly conduct, a Class One misdemeanor.

Headrick remains in custody under a $500,000 cash-only bond.
