Elderly Man in Critical Condition After Apartment Fire in North Phoenix

Firefighters rescued the man from a second-story blaze Saturday evening

PHOENIX — A man is in “extremely critical condition” following an apartment fire that broke out Saturday evening in north Phoenix, according to officials from the Phoenix Fire Department.

The fire occurred just after 7 p.m. near Tatum Boulevard and Cactus Road, where flames were seen coming from the second floor of a residential complex. Firefighters arrived quickly, extinguished the blaze, and located an elderly man inside the unit.

Emergency crews treated the man on the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further care. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no firefighters were hurt during the rescue operation.
