Police say no injuries were reported after a man in his 70s discharged a handgun while seated in the restaurant.

Shoppers and diners at a West Valley Walmart had a scare Thursday morning when an elderly man accidentally fired a gun inside the store’s McDonald’s restaurant, according to the Buckeye Police Department.

The incident happened near Watson and Yuma roads around mid-morning. Police said the man, who is in his 70s, was sitting inside the restaurant when his handgun went off once.

No one was injured, and officers quickly detained the man. Authorities said the gunfire appeared to be accidental, though it was not immediately clear whether the man would face charges.
