El Mirage Police Arrest 21 In Drug Investigation

On Tuesday, following a five-month drug and firearm investigation El Mirage police department arrested nearly two dozen people.

During an investigation that began in July that spanned across four properties on the same street near Thompson Ranch Road and the U.S. 60, more than 50 people were seen making drug purchases, resulting in 21 arrests the El Mirage Police Department said in a press release.

During the execution of the search warrant, over 400 fentanyl pills, several hundred grams of methamphetamine and a firearm were seized.

Several of those arrested in the bust were on probation and prohibited from having a firearm. One of the suspects faces drug and arson charges after being linked to multiple fires near Luna Street, which includes a dumpster fire near businesses. Their identities have not been made public.

The city of Surprise Police Department’s Animal Control Unit removed twelve dogs that were on the four different. As a result, animal cruelty charges were filed due to the state of the dogs’ conditions.

“The Neighborhood Enforcement Team’s mission is to reduce gun violence and improve the neighborhood quality of life. Those selling drugs on Luna Street have poisoned our community, and I directed my team to address this issue to give those living nearby a safer El Mirage,” Police Chief Paul Marzocca said in the release.

The State Gang Task Force, Glendale and Surprise police department and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Adult Probation all supported the investigation.
