Eight Hospitalized, Including Three Children, After Six-Vehicle Crash in Phoenix

Five adults suffered life-threatening injuries in a major collision at the intersection of 16th Street and Thomas Road, authorities said.

Eight people, including three children, were hospitalized Saturday evening after a six-vehicle crash at a busy intersection in Phoenix.

Crews from the Phoenix Fire Department responded to the intersection of 16th Street and Thomas Road around 7 p.m. following multiple reports of a serious multi-vehicle collision.

When firefighters and paramedics arrived, they found six damaged vehicles and 10 people requiring medical evaluation.

Authorities said five adults sustained life-threatening injuries. One adult male was transported to a local trauma center in extremely critical condition, while three other men and one woman were taken to hospitals in critical condition.

Three children involved in the crash were also transported for treatment. Officials reported that all three were in stable condition during transport.

Two additional adults, a man and a woman, were evaluated at the scene but declined transportation to a hospital.

Investigators have not yet released information regarding what caused the crash, and the incident remains under investigation.
