Devour The World Is On The Move

West Valley residents won’t have to travel as far this year to participate in Devour Week as one of the three signature events will move to Peoria.

In a press release, it was announced that the ‘Devour the World’ event would move to Peoria. It has previously been held in Phoenix.

Taking place on Feb. 15 at the Centennial Plaza, Devour the World celebrates international cuisine of the Valley. Music and dances from across the globe will also be showcased.

According to the press release, the Devour the World event was moved to Peoria in order to make the cultural festival more accessible to residents in the West Valley.

“Peoria’s events scene continues to get better and better, and I am thrilled to have this multicultural, culinary adventure coming to the heart of our city,” Peoria Mayor Cathy Carlat said in the release. “I can’t wait for family and friends to gather as they ‘Devour the World’ together.”

The $55 ticket includes food and drink sampling from regional restaurants and chefs.

Devour Week, lasting from Feb. 15 to Feb. 23 also features an event where seven local chefs work together to bring attendees a farm-fresh meal paired with Arizona-made wines.

The two events lead up the main event known as the Devour Culinary Classic, where people partake in culinary demonstrations and taste items from the region’s best chefs, restaurants, local food artisans, brewers and vintners.

Founder of Local Arizona First, Kimber Lanning started the event in 2009 as a way to create a destination food and dining scene.
