Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker is teaming up with McDonald’s and Nike on a new limited-edition sneaker release that draws inspiration directly from Arizona.
The new Nike Book 2 McDonald’s sneaker, announced Wednesday, features design elements tied to Booker’s Arizona roots, including the iconic turquoise arches from the Sedona McDonald’s location, the only McDonald’s restaurant in the world without the brand’s traditional golden arches.
According to McDonald’s, the sneaker reflects Booker’s journey from McDonald’s All American to NBA superstar while highlighting places in Arizona that helped shape him.
“McDonald’s has been part of my story long before the league,” Booker said in the announcement. “My sneakers have always been about honoring the places in Arizona that have shaped me over the years.”
The shoe will launch in two versions:
- A limited “Friends & Family” edition available through a McDonald’s app sweepstakes running May 22 through May 28
- A general public release available June 2 through Nike.com, the Nike App, and select retailers
Fans can enter the sweepstakes by downloading the McDonald’s app, joining MyMcDonald’s Rewards, unlocking the promotion in the app, and purchasing one of six specialty drinks.
The sneaker itself features a low-profile basketball design with a forefoot Air Zoom unit, Cushlon 3.0 midsole, plush foam sock liner, and molded upper.
McDonald’s and Nike also announced plans for a one-day pop-up event tied to the launch, though details have not yet been released.
For Arizona fans, the collaboration puts one of the state’s most recognizable roadside landmarks – Sedona’s turquoise McDonald’s arches – at the center of a national sneaker release.
