A man is in the hospital after being shot by Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies during a confrontation Wednesday morning in the White Tank Mountain Regional Park near Waddell.
According to MCSO, deputies were called to the park following reports of a suicidal individual. When they arrived, the man allegedly pointed a firearm at them, prompting deputies to open fire.
He was struck and later transported to a hospital, where officials said his injuries were not life-threatening. No deputies were injured in the incident.
Authorities have not released the man’s name, details about his weapon, or the number of shots fired. The investigation remains ongoing.
