Delays and Closures On Interstate 17 In North Valley Start Wednesday

Planning to take a trip north on Interstate 17? Plan ahead and be prepared for delays and closures.

Intermittent closures along Interstate 17 in the North Valley will begin Wednesday night. The impact on drivers could possibly be until June 28th.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, Arizona Public Service crews will be working to install overhead power lines north of State Route 74. I-17 traffic in both directions could be stopped for up to 20-minute intervals near the Pioneer Road area.

The I-17 southbound off-ramp at Pioneer Road will be closed when the closures are in effect.

APS crews will begin their installation at 9 p.m. on Wednesday until 4 a.m. on Thursday. Crews will resume working on Friday at 9 p.m. until 4 a.m.

On Saturday, installation construction is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and continue until 1 p.m. on Sunday. The planned construction could make an impact on drivers headed north for the weekend.

Every night from June 22 through June 25, APS crews plan to work from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m.

If required, APS crews have plans to also work from 8 p.m. on June 27 until 1 p.m. on June 28 to finish the power line installation.
