Deadly Weekend For Teens In Phoenix Car Accidents and Shootings

A valley teenager is dead, and six members of his family were hospitalized after a crash in north Phoenix on Sunday.

The crash occurred near 32nd Street and Greenway Road just after 8 a.m. Phoenix police report that a pickup truck traveling south on 31st Street, failed to stop at a stop sign on Greenway Road. That driver was allegedly driving the wrong way when the crash happened.

A teenager, identified by a family friend as 13-year-old Josiah Boteilho, was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, where he later died. Four other children and two adults in the vehicle were also taken to the hospital with injuries.


The truck driver remained at the scene and reportedly showed signs of impairment.

Officers say the truck driver was booked into jail for offenses including manslaughter and DUI. The crash remains under investigation.

Another teen’s life was loss, and two others were hurt after a car crash early Sunday morning in Phoenix.

Phoenix police were called to the accident scene near of 40th Street and Osborn Road shortly before 3 a.m. where they found two vehicles involved in a crash.

A 17-year-old girl driving one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation is still underway as to what led to the crash.

Phoenix police were also called to a scene of a shooting Sunday morning, near the intersection of 83rd Avenue and Osborn Road Sunday morning.

Police reports show that just before 7:30 a.m. witnesses reported that people were shooting at two individuals. When police arrived, they found 19-year-old Rodolfo Gonzalez and another man at the scene with gunshot wounds.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say the potential shooter or shooters left in a vehicle before police arrived.

On Saturday night, a teenage boy died after a shooting in west Phoenix.

Phoenix police responded just before midnight to an apartment complex near 35th Avenue and McDowell Road after calls of a shooting were reported.

Once on scene, officers found a 17-year-old teenage boy with a gunshot wound.

According to police, the teen was taken to the hospital in critical condition. On Sunday afternoon, Phoenix police released information that the boy had died from his injuries suffered in the shooting.

Police report that the suspect in this shooting remains at large.

Information on the suspect has not yet been released. The shooting is still under investigation.
