Co+Hoots Foundation, Techstars seek young entrepreneurs for Youth Startup Weekend

Co+Hoots Foundation and Techstars Startup Programs are seeking 50 middle school and high school students in the Phoenix metropolitan area to participate in a youth-focused event aimed at giving youths the opportunity to pitch their most genius ideas to professionals in the industry. This event is set to take place at the end of August.

The youth Startup Weekend is focused on offering students who are gifted with entrepreneurial mindsets opportunities to develop their own product and company ideas, work with a team of like-minded peers and then pitch their ideas to industry professionals. Co+Hoots describes the weekend as follows: “Building on the nationally recognized, brilliant StartUp Weekend model and pivoting it for students, the CO+HOOTS Foundation has brought together entrepreneurs and experts, volunteers and community leaders to offer students a glimpse into what it takes to build a company and a product from scratch.”

Co+Hoots Foundation is a non-profit arm of Co+Hoots, a co-working community promoting collaboration by providing a professional, inspirational and self-sustaining space for creatives, entrepreneurs and small businesses located in the Phoenix area. Co+Hoots describes themselves as a community of local minded and business focused people who are able to share resources, collaborate on projects and generate more success together, all in an effort to support their livelihoods.

The youth Startup Weekend is set to take place over a course of three days, beginning on August 26th and lasting until August 28th. The event will be held at Co+Hoots’ beautiful new space located in Midtown. “While the end product of the weekend for the student participants will be a final, polished pitch,” says Meg Taylor, Co+Hoots Foundation Interim Director, “our hope is that the opportunity to connect with working professionals will inspire them to take a risk and build something new.”

For students seeking to brainstorm, create and pitch their most genius ideas alongside other like-minded individuals, the youth Startup Weekend is the perfect opportunity.
