Cindy McCain and Jeff Flake Confirmed to Ambassador Posts

The Senate recently confirmed Cindy McCain and Jeff Flake to serve in the Biden administration beginning on Oct. 26.

Former Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona was approved to serve as the ambassador to Turkey and Cindy McCain, the wife of the late Sen. John McCain, has been approved to serve as the ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture.

The nominations were approved through voice vote, a process which takes only a few minutes as long as no senators have any objections.

Flake served just one term in the Senate, opting not to seek reelection in the face of what was expected to be a difficult Republican primary.

Cindy McCain endorsed Biden in his presidential campaign, which many feel helped Biden broaden his appeal to Republicans and independents in Arizona, which was a crucial swing state in the election.
