Cigna Drops Fry’s Pharmacies, No Longer In-Network Insurance Coverage For Customers

If you hold Cigna as your health insurance, Fry’s pharmacies are now considered out of network.

Grocery retailer Kroger Co, which is the parent company of Fry’s, has terminated their partnership with Cigna due to an “unsustainable” pricing model. It comes down to health care providers wanting to increase their revenue, while insurance companies are looking for ways to pay less.

Kroger reportedly made several attempts to negotiate for a more equitable and fair contract that lowers cost, increases access, and delivers greater transparency. However the two parties ran out of time on their contract negotiations.

Cigna health insurance customers should receive a letter from their provider warning them that the provider may not be in their network.

In addition Arizona parents need to take note. Phoenix Children’s Hospital has until Feb. 1, to work out their contract dispute with Bloomfield, Connecticut-based Cigna Corporation or the hospital will no longer be considered in-network by the insurance company.
