A Chandler High School student has died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle near the school earlier this week, authorities confirmed Saturday.
The crash occurred just after noon Thursday near Arizona Avenue and Detroit Street. Witnesses told police the student was crossing the street outside of a designated crosswalk when he was hit. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died two days later.
The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators. Chandler police said the investigation is ongoing following the student’s death, though no charges have been announced.
The school community is expected to be notified as Chandler High processes the loss of one of its students.
