TEMPE, Ariz. — Budda Baker, the Arizona Cardinals’ longest-tenured active player, has signed a three-year contract extension, keeping the six-time Pro Bowler with the team through the 2027 season.
Drafted in the second round (36th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, Baker has been a cornerstone of the Cardinals’ defense. He leads all defensive backs in total tackles (861) and solo tackles (600) since entering the league and is the only defensive back with at least 85 tackles in each of the past seven seasons.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the contract is worth up to $54 million, with $30 million guaranteed.
A Record of Excellence
Baker’s on-field impact is undeniable. He currently leads the Cardinals with 142 tackles this season, placing him second among all NFL players. As the only safety to earn Pro Bowl recognition in each of the past five seasons, Baker continues to set the standard for his position.
The Cardinals safety is aiming to lead his team to its second playoff appearance during his tenure. His lone postseason experience was a 34-11 loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
Closing Out the Season
The Cardinals, sitting at 7-7, will close out the regular season with road games against the Panthers and Rams before hosting the 49ers in their season finale.
