Buckeye’s Police Dog Receives Donation of Bulletproof Vest

Protecting our K-9 police officers is just as important as protecting our human officers and thanks to donation made by a Massachusetts-based nonprofit, the Buckeye police department’s police dog has some extra protection.

Drax, the department’s K9, has been gifted a bullet and stab protection vest courtesy of Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

The almost five-pound vest costs up to $2,300 and comes with a five-year warranty, according to the Buckeye Police department.

The nonprofit has provided more than 4,000 vests to police dogs all across the country made possible from private and corporate donations.

Eligible police K9s must be at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement agencies.

Dogs who have vests that are expired are also eligible for the program.

There are approximately 30,000 police dogs across the country. If you would like to learn more about Vested Interest in K9s or to make a donation, click here.
