Buckeye Teen Arrested for Alleged Social Media Threat Targeting High School

Authorities say an 18-year-old student from Youngker High School was taken into custody after investigators linked him to an online post threatening a school shooting.

A Buckeye teenager was arrested Thursday night after police said he posted a threat of a school shooting on social media, prompting an immediate investigation.

According to the Buckeye Police Department, officers took 18-year-old Isaiah Chavez into custody at his home following reports of a concerning Instagram post. Chavez, a student at Youngker High School near Lower Buckeye and Apache roads, was booked on charges of making threats and disrupting an educational institution.

The situation began earlier that afternoon when another student reported the online threat to a school resource officer around 3 p.m. Although the post did not initially identify the person behind the account, investigators were able to trace it back to Chavez, police said. He was arrested roughly six hours later, around 9 p.m.

Authorities confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to students or staff.

This marks the second time in a week that Buckeye police have responded to potential school threats. Earlier, officers opened an investigation involving an 11-year-old WestPark Elementary student who allegedly had a notebook containing written threats.

The Buckeye Police Department emphasized that all school-related threats—whether online or written—are taken seriously and investigated promptly to ensure community safety.
