Buckeye, AZ – In the wake of over 300 reports of school shooting threats from concerned citizens, the Buckeye Police Department has arrested two students responsible for posting false reports. These arrests come after extensive investigations by patrol officers, school resource officers, and detectives, who have worked to ensure the safety of local schools. None of the threats reported were deemed credible.
A 13-year-old female student at Bales Elementary School was taken into custody following a tip from the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center. Detectives were able to locate and arrest the student responsible for making the threats, and she now faces criminal charges.
In a separate incident, a student at Buckeye Union High School was arrested after falsely claiming on social media that a gun was spotted in a school bathroom. The school was briefly placed in a hold while officers investigated. After tracing the source of the message, officers determined the report was unfounded, leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old male student. He now faces criminal charges and school discipline.
The Buckeye Police Department emphasizes the importance of reporting violent threats on social media rather than sharing or reposting them. Ensuring community safety remains the top priority as all threats are taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.
