PHOENIX — Authorities confirmed Thursday that the body of Hannah Moody, a 31-year-old woman who disappeared while hiking in Scottsdale, was found near the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
The Scottsdale Police Department said there were no signs of foul play in Moody’s death.
She was last seen on Wednesday morning at the preserve. Friends became concerned and reported her missing around 7:50 p.m. that evening when she didn’t return.
Search crews, including ground units and aerial support, scoured the area until 11:30 p.m. and resumed the search early Thursday.
A helicopter from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office located Moody’s body shortly after noon Thursday. She was found off-trail, about 600 yards from the Gateway Trailhead parking lot, where her car remained parked.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine her cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing.
