Six-time Grammy Award winner Billy Joel has announced a March 9 date to perform at Chase Field in Phoenix.
It will mark the first-ever Arizona baseball stadium performance for the “Piano Man.
LiveNation.com will be the place to purchase tickets when they go on sale on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m.
“We are thrilled to have music legend Billy Joel perform at Chase Field,” Derrick Hall, Arizona Diamondbacks president and CEO, said in a statement. “Billy’s music is known and loved amongst fans across multiple generations, much like baseball, and we are excited to offer our fans an additional form of entertainment at Chase Field.”
Additional tour locations that were announced along with Phoenix include Orlando, New York City and London.
After starting his solo music career in 1971, Joel signed with Columbia Records in 1972 before releasing his breakthrough album, “The Stranger,” in 1977. That album became Columbia Records’ best-selling release with over 10 million copies.
Additional accomplishments for the “Piano Man” continued piling up in future years, with a No. 1 album on the Billboard Top 200 and a No. 1 single on the Billboard Top 100.
Along with having won six Grammy Awards, Joel has been nominated for 23 and ranks as one of the best-selling artists of all time with 150 million records sold worldwide.
In 1993, Joel announced his retirement from writing and releasing music.
The 69-year-old is also a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Long Island Music Hall of Fame.
