Biden Signs Bill Ending Covid-19 National Emergency

On Monday, President Biden signed a bipartisan congressional resolution ending the U.S. national emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The signed House bill immediately ending the Covid-19 national emergency, three years after it was first enacted during the Trump administration in 2020. It was set to expire in a few weeks.

By ending the national emergency, it will initiate the of some waivers for federal health programs meant to help health care providers during the height of the pandemic.

The national emergency permitted the government to take extensive steps as a response to combat the virus and help the entire country’s economic stability and health. Most of the emergency measures have already been stopped, and other programs are in the process of phasing out.
