Benchmark Electronics moving corporate HQ to Arizona

Arizona is welcoming another industry-leading company to the ranks of technology businesses in the state.

Benchmark Electronics has chosen Arizona as the new location for its corporate headquarters. Benchmark is a global provider of comprehensive design and manufacturing solutions currently headquartered in Angleton, Texas.

“We are delighted to have selected the state of Arizona for the relocation of our headquarters,” said Benchmark Electronics President and CEO Paul J. Tufano in a joint statement with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. The move is expected to be a great benefit to both the state of Arizona and Benchmark.

“I am confident that Benchmark will find Arizona is the ideal platform for growth and success, and I thank them for their significant investment in our state,” said Governor Ducey. Over the next five years, 500 projected jobs are expected to be created in the area.

Benchmark has yet to select an exact location for the new headquarters but is considering sites in the greater Phoenix area. The move is expected to begin in May of 2017 which is also when the location of the headquarters is expected to be announced.

Benchmark supports the aerospace & defense, medical, industrial, telecommunications and computing industries with a range of technology, design and manufacturing services. There is currently a Precision Technologies division located in Tempe, Arizona.

Several factors were involved in the decision of the new location. The geographic position will enable Benchmark to better access it’s worldwide customers, to expand engineering capabilities through a partnership with Arizona State University, and to complement existing development facilities in other locations.

This is a win for the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), the state’s leading organization for economic development. “Benchmark’s selection of Arizona for its corporate headquarters relocation demonstrates that Arizona continues to provide the winning combination of skilled talent, a pro-business climate and quality of life that decision-makers are seeking,” said Sandra Watson, ACA President and CEO. “We are thrilled to welcome Benchmark to Arizona, and we look forward to supporting their continued success.”
