Bed Bath & Beyond recently announced plans to close “lower-producing” stores, following a decline in sales.
The company released the list on Thursday of more than 50 stores that will close this year. The closures include stores in 20 states, including Arizona, Texas, California, Ohio Florida and Nevada.
Currently there are 2 Arizona locations on the list. The store located near Interstate 17 and Carefree Highway and a second location in Tucson.
As Bed Bath & Beyond works to turn things around, the company plans to reduce its workforce by about 20%.
The retailer reported a 26% drop in sales compared to the second quarter of the 2021 fiscal year.
Bed Bath & Beyond said it will change its merchandising and inventory strategy in an effort to improve sales. That strategy, the retailer says, will be rooted in national brands.
