“We take immense pride in Matteo and Sruti for their exceptional achievements,” expressed Carolyn McGarvey, CEO of BASIS Ed Arizona. “Their accomplishments not only reflect the stringent academic benchmarks and commitment to excellence that epitomize BASIS Charter School campuses nationwide but also underscore our dedication to nurturing outstanding scholars, particularly here in Arizona. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Matteo, Sruti, and their families for this well-deserved honor.”
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is a prestigious acknowledgment of students who excel academically and demonstrate exceptional involvement in extracurricular activities and community service. Matteo and Sruti’s selection as Presidential Scholars serves as a testament to their unwavering diligence, remarkable talents, and steadfast commitment to making a positive impact on society.
Furthermore, in recognition of their academic journey, Matteo and Sruti were given the opportunity to nominate teachers who played pivotal roles in shaping their educational experiences. Matteo chose his Economics teacher, Greg Thorson, while Sruti selected Charity Taylor-Antal, her English Literature teacher. Both Mr. Thorson and Ms. Taylor-Antal were honored as Distinguished Teachers by the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, highlighting the significant influence educators have on student success.
As part of their recognition, Matteo, Sruti, and their fellow scholars will participate in an online recognition program this summer, where they will be celebrated for their exceptional achievements and contributions.
