Bashas Attempting to Break Doughnut World Record

Hometown grocery store Bashas is looking to set a very sweet world record today.

Bashas is looking to put Arizona in the records books by breaking the Guinness World Record for largest doughnut mosaic.

Bashas’ officials have been busy preparing since Monday in their attempt by cutting out the donuts, frying and packaging the hundreds of thousands of donuts they need to use to accomplish their goal.

The planned mosaic will feature more than 14,000 doughnuts and measure 900 square feet.

The current record was set in 2012, and featured more than 7,000 donuts and designed into a 512-square-foot mosaic.

The effort will takes place at Basha High School in Chandler. The plan is to use more than 14,000 doughnuts into the shape of Bashas’ 90th anniversary logo. This special task is part of the Basha chains 90-day celebration of its 90th anniversary in business. In addition to this potential Guinness world breaking attempt Bashas’ plans to give away store gift cards, performing acts of kindness, and giving a charity selected by their shoppers a total of $50,000.|

You can attend the fun at the public event taking place today Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Basha High School at 5990 S. Val Vista Drive, Chandler.
