Barnes & Noble Returning to Phoenix With First New Store in Two Decades

Bookseller to open 18,500-square-foot location in The Shops at Town & Country on June 25

PHOENIX — Barnes & Noble is making a comeback in the Phoenix market with the opening of its first new store in the city in 20 years. The bookseller, which spent over a decade contracting its footprint, is now pivoting toward growth — and Phoenix is part of that strategy.

The new location will officially open its doors on June 25 at The Shops at Town & Country, located at 2011 E. Camelback Road. The space, formerly occupied by Forever 21, spans 18,500 square feet and will feature a full Barnes & Noble bookstore as well as a B&N Café.

“It has been 20 years since we last opened a Barnes & Noble in Phoenix,” said James Daunt, the company’s CEO. “Our booksellers are eager to open the doors to this beautiful new Barnes & Noble, and our baristas look forward to welcoming patrons into their brand-new café.”

This store opening marks a shift in Barnes & Noble’s approach. After a long period of store closures, the company is now actively expanding under new leadership, aiming to bring bookstores back to thriving retail centers and neighborhoods across the country.
