Ban in National Parks Lifted

A policy that banned the sales of bottled water at national parks like the Grand Canyon is being lifted thanks to the federal government.

This news was announced by the National Park Services in a statement released last week. In 2011 was when the rules were first put in place as a direct response to the major litter problem in national parks with many discarded water bottles thrown out in nature.

According to officials, 23 out of 417 National Parks Services locations have put in place the 2011 rule including popular stops in the U.S. such as Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and Zion National Park.

Spokesman Jeremy Barnum states the National Park Service has confidence in visitors that they can make the best beverage choice for their families and themselves while they visit one of the national parks the country has.

Parks will still continue in their promotions of recycling plastic water bottles. Also different national parks are working with partners so visitors can have stations to fill bottles with water for free.
