PHOENIX, AZ — A former security supervisor at a Phoenix residential reentry center has been sentenced to 13 months in prison for sexually abusing a female inmate under his supervision.
Morris Gary Hibbitt, 51, of Avondale, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge G. Murray Snow. In addition to prison time, Hibbitt will serve 10 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.
The abuse occurred on May 21, 2023, while Hibbitt was on duty at Behavioral Systems Southwest (BSS), a facility contracted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to help inmates transition back into the community. Inmates housed at BSS remain in official custody under BOP authority.
The Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General and the FBI conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen Brook prosecuted the case.
