PHOENIX, AZ – Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced a settlement with Urban Wood, LLC today, resolving an investigation into the company’s failure to deliver custom wood furnishings that consumers had already paid for upfront.
Details of the Case
Urban Wood, which operated from 2016 until January 2024 through Etsy and its company website, sold custom wood products to consumers in Arizona and across the country. However, complaints surfaced that the company:
- Failed to deliver purchased goods.
- Did not issue refunds as promised.
“Online shoppers have a reasonable expectation that the goods they are paying for will arrive as described and in a prompt manner,” said Attorney General Mayes. “Let this be a warning to businesses—keep your promises to consumers, or you will hear from my office.”
Settlement Terms
Under the settlement:
- Urban Wood’s owner must pay $32,000 in restitution to affected consumers.
- The owner is barred from violating the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act, including:
- Misrepresenting the availability or delivery time of goods.
- Failing to offer full refunds if goods cannot be delivered as promised.
Consumer Restitution Process
Consumers do not need to file a complaint to receive restitution. The Attorney General’s Office will contact eligible consumers regarding refunds.
