Attorney General Mayes Launches Webpage to Track Federal Funding Issues

State Urges Reports on Disruptions Despite Court-Ordered Freeze Halt

PHOENIX — Attorney General Kris Mayes has announced the launch of a new webpage to collect reports of ongoing federal funding issues following the attempted freeze by the Trump administration.

“We have reason to believe Arizonans continue to suffer the consequences of Trump’s chaotic federal funding freeze attempt, despite my office and other attorneys general securing a temporary pause in federal court,” Mayes said. “If your government entity or nonprofit’s funding remains paused, or you have been prevented from accessing federal funds in violation of these court orders, we urge you to report these issues.”

Court Rulings Halt Federal Funding Freeze

Recent federal court rulings have temporarily halted the Trump administration’s attempt to freeze grants and loans, yet some organizations continue to face funding disruptions.

In a key ruling, U.S. District Court of Rhode Island Judge John McConnell issued a restraining order preventing the administration from interfering with federal funds already allocated by Congress. The order was part of a lawsuit led by Mayes and attorneys general from 22 other states and the District of Columbia.

Similarly, U.S. District Court Judge Loren Alikhan in Washington, D.C., issued a restraining order in a separate casebrought by the National Council of Nonprofits and Democracy Forward. Judge Alikhan noted that evidence from plaintiffs “paints a stark picture of nationwide panic in the wake of the funding freeze.”

“Organizations with every conceivable mission — healthcare, scientific research, emergency shelters, and more — were shut out of funding portals or denied critical resources beginning on January 28,” Alikhan stated in the ruling.

How to Report Funding Issues

Arizona organizations experiencing delays or denials of federal funding can report their issues on the new Attorney General’s Office webpage.
