Phoenix, AZ – Attorney General Kris Mayes announced the latest quarterly distribution of naloxone as part of Arizona’s ongoing fight against the opioid epidemic. This allocation, stemming from a settlement with Teva Manufacturing, will provide life-saving naloxone to communities across the state.
“Every dose of naloxone has the potential to save a life, and it’s critical that we continue supporting Arizona communities in their efforts to prevent opioid-related deaths,” said Attorney General Mayes.
For the third quarter of 2024, 7,000 units of naloxone, each containing two doses of nasal spray, will be distributed to community organizations statewide. The deliveries are expected from late September through November.
Distribution Breakdown:
- AZ HIDTA c/o Arizona Poison Control Center: 2,500 units
- Sonoran Prevention Works: 800 units
- Apache County Health Services Department: 500 units
- Coconino County Health Department: 2,500 units
- Graham County Substance Abuse Coalition: 700 units
Under the Teva Settlement Agreement, Arizona will receive 27,700 units of naloxone annually for up to 10 years. To date, Teva has supplied 16,500 units to Arizona in 2024.
